Musicianship

Sessions focused on building an understanding of music as a whole. Primarily through the voice, can include an instrument or many to aid understanding of how our knowledge can be transferred.

Sessions can be tailored from children to adults including as CPD for professional musicians, singers and teachers.

With young children this will look like games and songs (with lots of hidden learning) and with older children the ability to unpick the songs we have learned and play them, transform them and compose our own.

Ideal to do before more traditional instrumental learning or, for older learners, alongside instrumental or vocal lessons to aid aural and theory development and create a more musical musician!

Vocal Sessions

These sessions are aimed at singers of all ages. Whether a child just starting, wanting support over voice breaking, adult beginners or established singers looking to support and develop their technique.

Vocal health and breathing are at the heart of these sessions, understanding how best to use the voice safely and support anyone who is having any vocal fatigue. Then building a banks of tools to use our voice in different ways to get the effect we want.

All musical tastes and styles welcome!

We can workshop individual pieces, or have regular sessions. A combination of technique and musicianship makes for a strong singer who can sight read.

Instrumental Sessions

I would only teach instrumental sessions where we have a firm base in musicianship, see above.

This can be done after musicianship or alongside with a combo in the same lesson. Internalising the music is the best way to learn to play it.

Ukulele, Recorder, Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone available.

Mixed percussion and Keys used only as part of musicianship sessions.

Due to a physical disability I can no longer play at an advanced level so I prefer to work with beginner/intermediate instrumental pupils instilling a concrete base for them to move on.
